International Eucharistic Council 2012
Pastoral Council member Clare O'Callaghan is our liaison officer with IEC 2012 the company set up by the Irish Bishops to prepare for the International Eucharistic Congress taking place in Ireland in June 2012.
A Eucharistic Congress is an international gathering of people which aims to:
- Promote an awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Catholic Church
- Help improve our understanding and celebration of the liturgy
- Draw attention to the social dimension of the Eucharist.
A congress normally takes place every 4 years. The last one was held in Quebec in 2008.
Volunteers are being sought to help with the organisation of the Congress.
